10 years ago I made and put out a silly little album called 'Sealife', and it might not have done much in terms of influence or milestones, but I can't deny how much that album shaped who I would become musically and I am intensely nostalgic for it for reasons I can't even explain - I rarely listen to it, and I'm definitely not nostalgic for 2013. Yet here we are.

I've never really done a 'true' sequel album before - I've seen albums of mine as spiritual successors to previous works, but with this anniversary of really the start of my musical journey, I wanted to go back to the sound of 'Sealife' and make a whole new album using that sound pallette, which 10 years of experience under my belt.

This sequel album is divided into two parts, with the first half being a re-exploration of the sound of the original album, and from the interlude onwards, I wanted to try and push the sound forwards and try new things that an Alex from 10 years ago definitely couldn't even attempt to do. But perhaps I'm being too harsh on myself. Besides, old habits die hard, and even mixing this album was difficult because my ears are definitely predisposed to the original's terrible mixing and production quality, haha.

Regardless, this was a fun experiment that I could have easily kept unreleased for my own self-indulgence, but I figured that even if I'm the only one celebrating, it might as well at least be an open invitation.
